Letter asking a bank to open a basic account without a carné de extranjería
We draft your letter asking a bank for a cuenta básica (basic account) using your passport, identity card or other legally recognised document, citing Resolución SBS 00908-2025. This is not legal advice or representation, and it does not oblige the bank to open any other kind of account.
This is not legal advice or representation. The letter asks the bank to open a cuenta básica and cites Resolución SBS 00908-2025, in force since 16 June 2025, which lets a foreign national identify themselves with an identity card, a passport or another legally recognised document. Three limits: the rule covers only the cuenta básica, which has transaction caps (for other accounts each bank sets its own requirements); the rule sets minimum identification requirements and does not say expressly whether a bank may ask for more, so the letter asks rather than demands; and the bank must check that your immigration status is regular (Legislative Decree 1582), so an expired immigration document can explain a refusal. If you are refused, the next step is a complaint to the bank, which has 15 business days to answer. Read more in opening a bank account as a foreigner.

What happens to what you type
- We keep what you type into this form only to build the document. If you do not pay, it is deleted automatically after 2 hours. If you pay, it is deleted 24 hours after payment, together with the download link.
- The document you file is in Spanish, as Peruvian authorities and companies require, and comes from a fixed template. To put your own descriptions into Spanish, the text you type in description fields (never your name, ID number, address, amounts or dates) is sent to Google's Gemini API, which translates it under its own terms. You read and correct the Spanish before you pay, and your PDF also includes an English reading copy that is not for filing. Do not type details the document does not need (account numbers, diagnoses, passwords).
- The translation is kept for 2 hours so the same text is not translated twice, and your IP address is used as a daily translation counter that is deleted after 26 hours.
- Payment is processed by Culqi. We never see or store your card details. The email you give for the receipt is sent to Culqi, which issues the receipt; Mis Derechos does not keep it.
