About

Mis Derechos exists because almost everyone in Peru has more rights than they think they do, and almost nobody knows where they are written down.

A doorman keeps your ID. A restaurant charges a "service" it never announced. A company tells you it has 30 days to answer your complaint. In each case the law says something else, in a specific article, and naming it is usually enough.

Who it is for

  • Peruvians who want the statute, not the opinion.
  • Foreigners living in Peru — most of them Spanish-speaking — who need to know what applies to them and what does not.
  • Workers and small businesses who want to comply without paying a law firm for every question.

What we are not

We are not a law firm. We do not advise on the merits of your case and we do not represent you. The document assistant drafts a document from the facts you enter in a form; you review it and file it. We publish legal information from official sources, with the source in view, so you can decide with it.

Who writes this

Gyason edits and verifies every page on the site. Not a lawyer. Checks the site's claims against the official source, and every page says whether it is verified or partial and what is still unconfirmed — the methodology, not a credential, is what backs the content. See the full methodology for the exact source-by-source verification process.

How the site is funded

The information is free and will stay free: the law, the citations, the fine tables and the tools. The site is, or will be, funded by three things that do not touch that information:

  • Document preparation. The assistant drafts your complaint or letter from the facts you enter in a form, for a one-time price shown before you pay. Filing a complaint with the authority is free and needs no lawyer; what you pay for is the drafting. It is a draft that you review and file yourself. It is not legal advice or representation.
  • Advertising, labelled as such, never above the short answer and never on pages about emergencies.
  • Lawyer referrals. If you ask us to put you in touch with a lawyer, you pay nothing. Today there is no paid arrangement with any lawyer. If there ever is one, it will be a flat fee paid by the lawyer, it will be disclosed on the lawyer contact page, and it will never depend on your case.

We do not sell data. If any of this changes, this page will say so.
